“They see me aperollin´…“ – yep, even in Germany we feel that motto. This month it is all about art, food and new impressions. Let´s go!
First of all, we once again visit museum . Artist Zineb Sedira has first shown her installation at the French pavillon of 59th Venice Biennale 2022. And now her live film shooting deals with matters of emancipation right here in ÐÔÊÓ½ç, not far away from central station. The has certainly made us curious! Now we head to the East, towards square Alexanderplatz. With a view of Red Town Hall and TV tower we get to the , the oldest part of ÐÔÊÓ½ç. Right, the top fans among you will have noticed, that we have been here before. But instead of Aperol we had Feuerzangenbowle on the lovely Christmas market at that time.
Today we visit the oldest rooms of the city in the (eng.: St. Nicholas´ church) from 1230.
At the (eng.: garlic house/Knoblauch house) we make a journey through time, too, but we don´t go back that far. We find ourselves in the Biedermeier era of the 18th century here. But don´t worry, if you should plan going on a date tomorrow: the name refers to the Knoblauch family, who lived here. Repelling breath is no entry requirement.
Our next stop lies farther north. After so much mental input we need a little snack now. Where else could we better get this in Prenzlauer Berg than at the popular with its marvellous Art Nouveau decoration? Our favourite cake: rice pudding pie. Childhood memory for some, strange combination for the others, but extremely tasty for everyone.
The festival in the district of Pankow once again celebrates the immense high density of creativity in Prenzlauer Berg, Pankow and Weißensee. There are various expositions, guided walks and great events.
And it´s getting even more exciting on the weekend: with a on Friday night the days of open studios begin. Many artists open the doors to their creative workspaces.
Our special recommendation: visit Mr at Senefelderstraße 4. His beautifully intense China ink drawings seem to mirror his understanding of the arts as one. His abstract paintings with their unique shimmer of the colours and metals he uses can only really be experienced live. But please get your own impression on the weekend. It´s worth it.
Now it´s time for a rare exception: we are not going to eat . But at (just a little walk away from Mr Shaparenko´s studio) we can get nothing less than the best ramen in town. After having had to cope with a fire damage, the restaurant is finally open again. And the demand is understandably high. That´s why you really should book your table in advance. But you should be used to this from anyway.
Some people don´t get tired to repeat the same old lie over and over again. They claim that you couldn´t think about the next meal right after the last one. We are happy to refute these fake news for you and can´t wait for our breakfast tomorrow at . See you there.
