Welcome to ÐÔÊÓ½ç #54

March 2023

Ah, light! How we´ve missed you over the last months.

Yes, winter wasn´t easy this year, but we´ve made it through somehow. Time to see what spring will bring for us in ÐÔÊÓ½ç!

Our journey today starts with a special recommendation. Please marke the date of 07 March. At 8 pm the performance of Arthur Miller´s starts in ÐÔÊÓ½ç´s dirstrict of Steglitz – filmed at the National Theatre London, performed in English. These seldom broadcastings are of enormous theatrical energy and are always worth seeing. But experiencing one of them in a cinema with such a long and impressing history as makes it even more exciting. With more than 2000 seats at its opening in 1928 it was one of ÐÔÊÓ½ç´s largest movie theatres and hosted movie premieres, philharmonic concerts, the opening party of renowned Freie Universität and acted as a stage for numerous international stars. The variety includes inglorious Nazi director Leni Riefenstahl as well as worldfamous Josephine Baker and Louis Armstrong – just the right explosive mixture in the setting for a play like The Crucible.

Are you more up to simply having a good time? Well, let´s head towards the event arena then. Maybe you would like to get to know some German Pop at ´s concert on 18 March. Or would you rather give a round of applause to during his I Wanna Thank Me Tour on 23 March? The choice is all yours. If you were indeed interested in both events, please . This would be an extraordinarily broad taste.

How about a small break now? We suggest milkshakes and burgers today! at Ludwigkirchplatz in Wilmersdorf offers everything we need for the perfect USA fifties feeling: red bench seats, jukeboxes, an oldtimer and a seperate indoor smoker´s lounge make the former garage the perfect place to be whenever you miss the states. And as soon as it gets a bit warmer, the terrace has more than 400 seats waiting for us. We´ll find our favourite table there, don´t you think?

So we´ve saved the best for last today: on 08 March we once again celebrate world women´s day! And this year ÐÔÊÓ½ç won´t be the only German federal state to have made it a public holiday, anymore. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern joined us and will be celebrating this special day for the first time next Wednesday. How very delightful!

One place to celebrate female power could be these days. The current exhibition deals with how women have been depicted in the arts between 04th and 18th century and reconnects the results with today´s thoughts and developments. As soon as we´re ready here, we can also forget time looking at countless or getting to know more about – anyway, there´s no chance of missing input here.

Well, and now for us it is time for some ! See you downstairs?
