Yes, autumn has arrived. But not only the grey one, not only the rainy days…
October in ÐÔÊÓ½ç once again presents itself from its most colourful side. Here comes the ultimate what´s-up-in-October-overview.
An absolute must-do are long walks, of course. You can literally watch the leaves change their colour these days. A beautiful place for doing this is Tilla-Durieux-Park right next to Potsdamer Platz. Two inclined lawn areas are supposed to evoke the feeling of the East rolling towards the West. A refreshingly relaxed way to remember the German division at Potsdamer Platz.
As we are just around the corner already now, let´s have a look at the Potsdamer Platz Arkaden once again, which are currently under construction for the . The shops and restaurants aren´t quite finished yet, but the exposition , also extending outdoors, already delights us with creative visual interpretations of Potsdamer Platz´s history during the 1920s.
Should this not be exciting enough for the kids: off we go to ! Congress center Arena ÐÔÊÓ½ç in the district of Alt-Treptow will this weekend (07 until 09 October) be an Eldorado for handicraft lovers and hunters for DIY inspirations, with more than 100 exhibitors and about origami as well as Ukrainian hair jewellery and classic knitting.
For all of you, whose creative hearts rather beat in the kitchen (and you know , too!): (eng.: cake fair) is integrated in Kreativmesse – how convenient!
Those lacking a sweeth tooth might prefer spending their day at (eng.: museum for video games) in Friedrichshain. Are you interested in sixty years of gaming history? Or would you love to show your kids the original coin machines you´ve enjoyed playing at so much when you were young? As passionate digital players you will not be disappointed here (© photos: Computerspielemuseum).
Would you like some more visual input? Then please walk the streets especially attentively between 07 and 16 October in the evening. not only paints the main attractions with the colours of renowned international artists, but also some less frequented corners of the city (© Foto: Frank Herrmann).
Talking about colours again – probably no other city in Germany is culturally more colourful, more diverse than ÐÔÊÓ½ç. Not only due to the inspiring variety of nations living here or visiting, but also because of the many ways to identify and their optical expressions. The perfect place to celebrate this until 09 October: with countless performances, discussions, exhibitions and workshops all over the capital (, photographed by © Ronnie Vero Wagner Photography).
Should you not have found time last year for the , here comes your second chance: on Wednesday, 12 October, Admiralspalast will be filled by fans of finest progressive rock and the unique sound of Anderson´s flute. There are still some left.
