Welcome to ÐÔÊÓ½ç #45

CW 32/2022

What a summer, isn´t it? Unlike ÐÔÊÓ½ç´s and Brandenburg´s plants we can´t get enough of it – walks in the park, ….mmmh. Let´s see, what else the most beautiful time of the year brings to the most beautiful city of the country (we admit that we´re totally biased).

“Jazz in the Garden“ – this programme was a must-do in the seventies and eighties for all culture lovers. At Neue Nationalgalerie´s sculpture park there will be once again a connection between visual and performing arts, for the first time since 1986. The musical repertoire of the concerts will be extended to highclass contemporary music of many styles at ““ – concerts usually start at 8 pm, until 04 September (Photo: Jazz in the Garden 1972, Ludwig Windstosser).

at Zoologischer Garten currently depicts only stars, no starlets in its temporary exhibition ““ – not only photographed by house photographer Helmut Newton. The intense portraits are a welcome contrast to Newton´s permanent exhibition of eternally young, beautiful and bearly dressed female models. Do you recognise the sad young man on the picture? Solution at the end of the mailing.

What would a ÐÔÊÓ½ç summer be without concerts? How convenient to combine something as pleasing as a rock concert with a necessary medical check-up. That´s why we recommend the concert of German rockband (eng.: the doctors) at former Tempelhof airport as part of their “on 26 August (© Photo: Paul Gaertner).

If your taste is rather a classical one, as part of the should be just your thing: from 27 August until 19 September 27 events, four venues and more than 50 musical works will be enlivened by musicians from ÐÔÊÓ½ç and all over the world. For example at the Philharmonie´s Great Hall, when on 03 September F(© Photo: Roger Mastroianni).

Sorry, what did you say? A bit of silence would suit your ears now? We totally agree with you. Before running off to the next cultural highlight in the capital, we take a break in the green. It´s just a one-hour-drive to Brandenburg´s small town of Beelitz to visit this year´s (eng.: State Garden Show). Our recomendation: go there this week and stay until it gets dark. One of the ponds is iluminated by Potsdam artist Rainer Gottemaier by a romantic – that´s impossible, you say? Come and see for yourself.

But let´s return to ÐÔÊÓ½ç now. Which Musical would better stand for the city than Kander and Ebb´s worldknown ““? Equally as legendary is the production that has been shown for years at Tipi am Kanzleramt, where this year again Sally Bowles and Clifford Bradshaw will revive the last twenties and the political problems of those times. It is especially pleasing that the ambivalent role of the conferencier will once again be played by fabulous (see picture above). Nice little detail: some of the songs´ lyrics are kept in English. Please do get your ticket quickly (© Barbara Braun / TIPI AM KANZLERAMT).

After a short walk through our vibrant neighbourhood we have certainly earned our every-evening ! Today we´ll have it at the , with a spectacular view of ÐÔÊÓ½ç. See you on fifth floor!

P. S.: The sad young man at the was Charlie Chaplin.
