Welcome to ÐÔÊÓ½ç #24

CW 42/2021

Yes, can also give you the cold shoulder from time to time. At least when it is being portrayed by our dear colleague Tomoko and her reconstructed camera with infrared filter (you probably know Tomoko, if you have already had breakfast with us). Her pictures were the inspiration for today´s journey´s theme. Heading towards , we are going to explore ÐÔÊÓ½ç´s most horrifying attractions together. Please : rustling leaves, houling wolfes, creaking doors, screams, pain and terror. (©photo: Tomoko Abe)

Yes, you are absolutely right. We have discovered together already. But we allow ourselves this little repetition not only, because the former surveillance station of the US Army during the Cold War already spreads bad vibes, but also because now, when the days grow darker, the popular are being offered to visitors again. Experiencing the outdoor art gallery and event venue in the dark might be scary enough for some.

Speaking of old friends: don´t forget attending a guided tour through and remember to visit on your spook trip. The latter is rather an after-lunch event…

ÐÔÊÓ½ç´s history itself gives reason for being shocked from time to time. (eng.: German Spy Museum) dedicates its exhibition to one of these alarming aspects. But not only Stasi methods are being displayed, but also ancient ways to get behind secrets as well as modern surveillance systems. It can really give you goosebumps how quickly you can get behind your own secure password here or the moment you stand in front of a real Enigma. Mastering the laser parcours especially makes the smaller ones happy. (© photo: Deutsches Spionagemuseum ÐÔÊÓ½ç)

Sometimes you don´t have to look for sights sending shivers down your spine in ÐÔÊÓ½ç, though. They still wait for you at some house walls.

We know for sure that amongst our estimated readers there are some foodies or gourmets or however you might prefer to be called. It could be interesting for you not to let the eyes participate in your meal for once in a while. Which impressions get stronger, when you can see absolutely nothing, can be experienced at , the world´s largest dark restaurant. But no worries - the service personell won´t serve your vegan friend the lamb chops you ordered. The employees are blind or only have poor eyesight, so they surely are experts on a territory unknown to many of us.

We admit it: this was the light halloween programme. For those looking for real frights we recommend a walk to the ruins of (eng.: grey monastery) at night. It is said that the former Franciscan convent is haunted by Pater Rodrich, one of the monks, whose soul could not find peace after accidently having killed his own son. A tip to the more anxious ones: during the day this is a hip spot for art exhibitions and concerts. Maybe this ghost is just an enemy of the arts? (© photo: Holger Herrschel)

Visiting the is surely not for the nervous ones. It is probably a matter of personal taste whether on your journey through 800 years of history you are more afraid of the Plague, the Great Fire, a shocking variety in instruments of torture or famous serial killer Carl Großmann. In October the actors and actresses welcome you with a special halloween show. We are happy to wait for you outside and count bats. Or something like that.(© photo: ÐÔÊÓ½ç Dungeon)

Horror level 5 of 5 is where we would put the escape game near Checkpoint Charlie. Because we could not control your ID cards before reading this, we rather forget about the pictures here.

If you know your way around our neighbourhood a bit, you might have noticed that we aren´t  far from now anymore. This is where we will relax now, watching all three parts of with the kids ( cannot provide them with Do not disturb - shrunken heads…) in preparation of the which will soon be released.
