Wow, what a beautiful common history we can look back on already! But to be honest, we haven´t really focussed on the younger ones amongst us, yet. Especially now in their summer holidays it is our pleasant duty and an inner desire to change this.

Let us start with the absolut classic and alltime favourite of holiday events amongst children of all ages. Visiting the zoo is oldie, but goldie, as some of the young grown-ups might put it. regularly delights the smaller ones with the animals´ offspring. The latest newborns are three little female capybaras. They are not carrying any names yet and the zoo seems to need your help (mail to: socialmedia@zoo-berlin.de)!

Visiting one of the is always exciting, no matter our age. We especially recommend the in the district of Prenzlauer Berg as “Europe´s most modern scientific theatre“ (citing the website) and many interesting events. For the older children (10 years and older) ““ might be just the thing. The most popular movie melodies from Ben Hur and Star Wars to Lord of the Rings accompany the starry sky, which is also being explained by an expert.

A wonderful and versatile is also offered by the in the Amerika Gedenkbibliothek (America Remembrance library) in ÐÔÊÓ½ç district. Your kids carry a special interest in snails (with and without houses)? They love it when you read out to them? They love classical games as chess and Mikado? Hand them over to the library for an afternoon or two. Meanwhile you could enjoy a part of the - or just .

We know we have already recommended you (gardens of the world) in the district of Marzahn. But now is nearly the best time to visit the gardens with all of the family for a , a wild afternoon on the water playground or a relaxed tour through the gardens for the grown-ups while the kids attend one of the holiday workshops (bookable until the end of next week). Only a nice little walk away from Orania.ÐÔÊÓ½ç lies (the Jewish Museum). This might a bit demanding for kids - which is why a few weeks ago the children´s world was opened. takes the little visitors to the story of Noah´s Ark. Interactive and designed with lots of love and knowledge, kids can experience a museum as their playground and even cuddle with the bigger animal figures and carry around the smaller ones. We think, this is how important themes can be made accessible for younger people - and all of this for free. The grown-ups might prefer one of the special guided tours focussing on the building´s architecture. No matter what you would like to do, please remember to book your visit in advance. You know that the Ark doesn´t have room for everybody…

If your five-year-old proudly presents her latest work, which has been created by using Mum´s lipstick and Dad´s acrylic coulours, creatively combined on the white couch, you might know, why sometimes children´s creativity can be perceived as vandalism. In order to offer a safe space for setting the kids´ energy free, , a contemporary art gallery especially for children, offers for four to fourteen year old boys and girls. And make sure to visit one of the changing of local as well as international artists displaying motives especially young people are interested in.

kay, we have to admit one thing: our next item on the agenda is usually especially popular with girls. Because almost every young woman might at least once have dreamed of changing her legs for a shimmering mermaid´s tale and being able to breathe underwater while splashing around in the pool. The latter might still be a bit difficult, but we have a tip for the first wish for you: the . There are various places in Germany, where kids not younger than seven have the possibility of fulfilling their dream with a mermaid swimming workshop. By the way: nice . 

What a day! Just like the little ones we would love to just lay back in our buggy now and let somebody else drive us home after all the climbing, painting and running around.
