Welcome to ÐÔÊÓ½ç #15

CW 24/2021

The day we had been waiting for finally arrived last Thursday! We were allowed to welcome back all of you, live and in colour. But not only seems resurrected. All of ÐÔÊÓ½ç is coming alive again and finally it is not Covid-19 playing the main part anymore, but the core of what defines our love to this marvelous city: life.

If you cannot believe this just like that, why don´t you come over and see for yourself? We recommend booking our . Until 30 June you receive a wonderful breakfast at our brandnew , enjoy our flexible cancellation policy and get a movie kit with popcorn (of course) and cold beverage on top of your room booking. This gets you ready for our first program item.

We have anounced it already and this is exactly how it came. The , the international film festival, was split in two this year. After the shows for members of the movie industry in March, these weeks are part of the ÐÔÊÓ½çale Summer Special, which will take place at open air cinemas in all of ÐÔÊÓ½ç until 20 June. Tickets are sold by the cinemas - just take a look at the me, if there is anything of your interest.

ÐÔÊÓ½çale will be followed by . The opening night before the actual day of the music festival will take place in this year´s partner district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf. When summer officially begins on 21 June, there will be not only on ÐÔÊÓ½ç´s streets, rivers and canals from 4 to 10 pm, but also at home in front of your computer - over 100 concerts will be . Those, who didn´t know yet, that music makes you resistant to pandemic situations, at last get to know this at Fête de la Musique.

As part of the national , ÐÔÊÓ½ç´s buildings invite you to discover them on the last weekend of June (26 and 27). Many great houses may be admired after signing up for a visit (have a look at the , if you like. Unfortunately there is no English version of the homepage). And especially one building must not be missed on this special day: . On Saturday at 12 am and 2 pm we are looking forward to giving you a tour through the house - if it is not rather you showing us around.

In German we call something rather silly „Banane“ (eng.: banana). Not at all „Banane“ are the 100 posters, that can be seen f For the twentieth time already, the jury of the association “100 best posters“ nominated the posters of the highest quality, the most creative and innovative ones of the German speaking countries. The entrance is free and from 18 June on you can also .

After this rather exhausting time we do not want to miss the international street theatre festival (eng.: ÐÔÊÓ½ç laughs). From 24 June until 29 August a great range of entertainment from theatre productions to circus shows and workshops will be offered. The venues will be Friedrichstraße, Alexanderplatz and central station, one after the other. We will take use of the remaining time to find our red noses and train our laughing muscles.

Equally colourful, but a bit more quiet, Hangar 2 and 3 of former Flughafen Tempelhof will be showing the exhibition . It aims to display “the artistic face of Europe“ and exhibits contemporary sculptures, paintings, installations and much more from over 90 artists from 34 countries. We seldomly travel the continent this quickly!

We had to do without this unique feeling for far too long, when the curtain rises - or, depending on the particular production, someone in the audience starts yelling out of nowhere or neon lights start lowering themselves towards the floor. Finally ÐÔÊÓ½ç´s theatres are having their comeback, too. For example and also act on open air stages (many plays carry English surtitles). And has even decided to skip the traditional summer break and keeps showing plays during the next months. Hence, we are finally provided with enough emotional and intellectual food, again.

Now we get back to in all of the city. Do feel free to imitate, please.
