About McDuffie Medical Associates
McDuffie Medical Associates (MMA) was founded in 1961 by Dr. John W. Lemley as a solo primary care practice. In the early days Dr. Lemley actively provided primary care to his patients and his practice quickly grew. The practice expanded over the years with his son Dr. James Lemley and his wife, Dr Jacqueline Fincher in 1988; Dr. Robert Lemley in 1990; Dr Susan Land in 1998. MMA is the oldest and largest primary care practice in the Thomson/McDuffie County area.
Our physicians were all trained at the Medical College of Georgia and are board certified in their disciplines (Family Medicine – Dr. James Lemley and Dr. Land, Internal Medicine—Dr. Robert Lemley and Dr. Fincher). Our physicians actively maintain their professional board certifications and regularly participate in continuing education. Additionally they actively participate in local, state, and national organizations in an attempt to promote health care and the quality practice of medicine.
Because MMA continues to strive to provide quality patient care, we were the first practice in the area to implement electronic medical records (EMR). Our physicians and staff worked hard to make the technologic changes needed to modernize this rural practice. Due to our collective efforts, MMA was awarded the Health Technology Award from the Physicians’ Institute for Excellence in Medicine sponsored by Medical Association of Georgia. Since EMR implementation in 2007 our patients have benefited from improved medical records and streamlined service for many aspects of their care including scheduling, phone calls, and electronic prescriptions.
To demonstrate all of our hard work two of our physicians, James Lemley, MD and Jacqueline Fincher, MD, have received their three year certificate of recognition (beginning in May 2009) from The American Diabetes Association and National Committee for Quality Assurance.
National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) provides clinicians with tools to support the delivery and recognition of consistent high quality care, NCQA in partnership with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) have developed the Diabetes Recognition Program (DRP). This voluntary program is designed to recognize physicians and other clinicians, who use evidence-based measures and provide excellent care to their patients with diabetes.
Currently we are implementing improvements to receive the national designation as a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). This status will assist our physicians in providing care to a national standard. Additionally, this status will be recognized by the medical community and insurance companies that MMA has implemented innovative measures to provide and coordinate quality care for our patients.
We invite you to join our family at McDuffie Medical Associates.
