Welcome to ÐÔÊÓ½ç #65

February 2024

Winter in ÐÔÊÓ½ç can make it rough for us to live here sometimes… well, at least that is what nature makes you think these days. What an error! Here comes our very own anti-depression-programme for this February!

First things first: it´s time for once again! From 15 until 25 the world of the movies comes to the German capital. Whether you prefer the or or this or that or…. you will leave the cinema of your choice perfectly entertained. But, as every year, we wish all of you good luck trying to get one of the much sought-after at ticket release, 10 am every morning, always three days in advance. We keep our crossed!

In addition to the ÐÔÊÓ½çale, is also responsible for the fact of February being one of our favourite event months.
"The responsible movement of freedom, inclusion and creativity" – let´s see, if the countless shows and happenings keep the fashion week motto´s promise!

Of course we didn´t forget the 14 February, neither. Finally it´s time to celebrate the day Alexander Graham Bell was the first one to present a usable telephone in 1876! Okay, okay. And it´s Valentine´s Day, too.

For all of you, who don´t have a date yet: just find time for the next event. There are several coming up in ÐÔÊÓ½ç before the middle of February. Or just enjoy on your own. We´re there for you today, too.

Here comes another candidate for our list of greatest February attractions, and it´s a rather… let´s say polarising one: carnival! Alaaf, helau, oh now! What? Never mind.
If you feel like dressing up as someone else, celebrating and having a good time, ÐÔÊÓ½ç will not disappoint you.
We start the fifth season with the German Fat Thursday´s celebration on 08 at , Kulturbrauerei Prenzlauer Berg. On Saturday, 10 February, we go off to in Wittenau for their big . The kids can have some fun during the day, too, for example at from 1 pm on – carnival celebration for families with VR-glasses try-out and robots to play with. That really is a kids´ party of the 21st century.

Maybe the is just the right place to cure a hangover. At Straße des 17. Juni/Klopstockstraße in Tiergarten parc the collection of Deutsches Technikmuseum shows 90 different historical gas lanterns. It´s also very beautiful going there, when it´s dark (and every carnival lover is awake, again).

No, this funny fellow is no left-over carnival´s party guest. Nor is he a late consequence of a very nice and boozy Valentine´s evening. He is just another proof for ÐÔÊÓ½ç´s wonderful unpredictability and there is no need for further explanation. At least we don´t have one. Do you?

The artists exhibiting their work at probably know a lot more about street art (such as the deer?) than we do. And where could the first museum for urban art be placed better than at Bülowstraße, right in the middle of all these marvellous graffities and murals (we´ve been here, already)? The does not only see itself as a gallery, but also a place for getting to know ÐÔÊÓ½ç´s artists, learning more about the art and also bringing art into the neighbourhood. The top floors serve as flats and ateliers for eleven residents of the . We like. (© Photo: Nika Kramer)

Wow, that was a lot of input today! Enough now. We´re dog tired. Good night and see you tomorrow morning, .
